Lesson Policies

At Wellesley School of Music, we are committed to providing exceptional music education. 🎵 We understand that plans change, so here’s how to handle rescheduling:

  • Make-Up Lessons: Must be conducted online within 21 days of the missed lesson. This ensures both teachers and students maintain their schedules without disruption.

  • No In-Person Make-Ups: All make-up lessons are online to avoid additional travel for teachers.

  • No Rollovers: Missed lessons cannot be rolled over to the next week or month.

  • Additional Lessons: Make-up lessons are additional and cannot replace your regular schedule.

  • No Refunds: Missed lessons or make-up lessons are non-refundable unless the teacher is unavailable.

  • Rescheduling: You can reschedule a make-up lesson twice per semester, online only.

  • Family Policy: Lessons cannot be transferred to siblings or parents.

  • Emergencies: Cancelations due to emergencies are handled online.

  • Missed Without Notice: No make-up for lessons missed without prior communication.

Payment Policies

  • Tuition Fees: Collected at the start of each month, covering four lessons (four weeks).

  • Notification: If you plan to be absent, notify us by the first of the month for scheduling and payment adjustments.

  • No Refunds: Once payment is made, cancellations or adjustments are not possible.

  • Discontinuation: If you choose to discontinue lessons mid-cycle, the payment is non-refundable.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We’re here to support your musical journey! 🎶

  1. Creating the Perfect Learning Environment

At Wellesley School of Music, we thrive in a positive and open space that fosters creativity and learning. 🌈 Here’s how we can create the best environment for our lessons:

    1. Welcoming Space: We appreciate an open room with windows, plenty of light, and quality instruments. This setting is vital for creativity and comfort during lessons. Please ensure everyone in the household is comfortable with this setup.

    2. Minimize Distractions: As lessons take place in your home, we kindly ask that students are available without interruptions. This means reducing background noises like siblings playing, cooking smells, TV, game sounds, or conversations that may distract from a successful lesson.

    3. Focused Time: We take our job seriously and appreciate your cooperation in pausing household activities during lessons. This allows the teacher to be fully present with the student for the duration of the weekly lesson.

    4. Open Communication: If our teacher feels uncomfortable due to ongoing distractions, we may need to discuss or reevaluate our arrangement to ensure the best learning experience.

We value your partnership in creating a nurturing learning environment! 🎶

Practice Guidelines

At Wellesley School of Music, we know that practice is key to musical success. While no school or teacher can guarantee success without full commitment from students and parents, your active involvement makes a significant difference. Here's how you can support your child's musical journey:

  1. Parental Role: Parents are crucial in encouraging daily practice. Your engagement and support help integrate music into your child’s routine effectively. 🏆

  2. Practice Requirements:

    • Ages 6-8: Practice 10-20 minutes, 3-4 times per week.

    • Ages 8-10: Practice 20+ minutes, 3 times per week.

    • Ages 10-12: Practice 30+ minutes, 2-4 times per week.

These are the minimum requirements for achieving basic results. The more practice, the faster the progress! 🎹

  3. Commitment Levels: These guidelines are suggestions. Each family can adjust based on their child's commitment and available time.

  4. Encouragement: Parents are encouraged to reward and assist children in making practice a regular part of their day. Your participation is vital for your child’s commitment to music.

  5. Teacher Support: Our teachers are dedicated to providing quality education, compassion, and clear instruction. If progress stalls due to lack of practice, we may need to reassess the teaching arrangement.

  6. Communication: A positive relationship between families and instructors is built on compassion, clarity, and open communication.
